After graduating from the Atlantic Veterinary College in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Dr. Steele entered private practice in Port Hope, Ontario and subsequently became a partner in the Port Hope Veterinary Hospital. He later became the owner of Midtown Animal Hospital in Cobourg, Ontario where he has practiced for the past 24 years. He enjoys private practice tremendously, specifically the daily interactions with his amazing staff, clients and their four-legged family members. No two days are ever the same. Dr. Steele enjoys spending time with his wife, reading, dining and entertaining friends and family.
Dr. Johnson joined our practice in the summer of 2007 after 2 years spent practicing in Alberta. She is a 2005 graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ontario. Amanda enjoys all aspects of companion animal practice, especially challenging internal medicine cases.
At home she and her husband stay busy raising their young children and caring for Kosmo, a black lab. Amanda enjoys family time, hiking, traveling, horse back riding and walking the dog.
Graham joined our team in the fall of 2021. He has been a great addition to our Midtown family and helps us continue to to provide excellent care and service to our patients and clients.
Dr.Biggar graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2011. He grew up in Cobourg and loves serving the community that helped raise him. He enjoys the every day challenges of veterinary medicine and working with the fun and energetic team at Midtown. In his spare time he enjoys helping apiarists by providing hive medicine, staying active through sports, and traveling with his wife and son.
Ashley always had pets in her house growing up and knew from a young age that she would work with animals in the future. She received her Animal Care Certification from Sheridan College shortly after highschool and then went on to work in the research field for 7 years. During that time she began the Registered Veterinary Technician program at Ridgetown College and graduated with honors in 2014. Ashley joined the Midtown family in 2017 and never looked back! Her interests include music, nature walks, animal and nature photography, video games, jigsaw puzzles and working on her personal growth and well being. Ashley currently shares her homer with her parents, their young and absolutely ridiculous Beagle Jimmy Kibble and her cat Winston, a clinic cat turned foster fail.
Carley joined the Midtown team after graduating in April 2007 as a Registered Veterinary Technician from St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario. She began her career with animals while in high school, volunteering and then later working at the Northumberland Humane Society. She is always looking forward to learning something new but especially enjoys dentistry and dental radiography.
Carley shares her home with her husband, two young boys, two cats Moe and Petrie and their dog Hardy, a Boston Terrier. Carley enjoys camping, travelling, scrapbooking and spending time with friends & family.
Dawn graduated from St Clair College in Windsor as a Registered Veterinary Technician over 25 years ago. She has worked in several small animal clinics including emergency. Dawn settled in as part of the Midtown Animal Hospital family 20 years ago. She enjoys all aspects of her job, especially the nursing care of our post surgical and hospitalized patients. She has a special interest in pain management. Dawn enjoys gardening, reading and spending time with friends and family. Dawn shares her home with her husband, two sons, two cats Mitchy & Matty and her dog Reuben.
Emma graduated from the Veterinary Technician Program in the spring of 2022 from Georgian College and joined the Midtown team following her student placement. She is no stranger to Midtown she actually spent some time with us for her highschool co-op. Emma has a special interest in dentistry and behavior. Emma shares her home with her cat Melvin. She enjoys spending time at their family trailer in the summer, playing board games and hanging out with friends.
Rennie graduated from Seneca College in 1999 as a Registered Veterinary Technician and has been with Midtown Animal Hospital since 2002. She has a special interest in Veterinary Nutrition, pain management and anything generally feline related. You might say she is a dedicated feline enthusiast. She shares her home with 4 cats Leo, Little Buddy, Pookie and Teenie Beanie, her husband and her daughter who also carries on the feline enthusiast gene. Rennie’s hobbies include camping, gardening, reading, card making and scrapbooking.
Julie graduated from St Lawrence College in 1992 from the Veterinary Technician program. She started with Midtown Animal Hospital shortly after it opened in March of 1993 – she begs you not to do the math!!
She shares her home with her husband, two sons and her cat Xander. Julie enjoys travelling and spending time with friends and family.
Michelle joined our team in 2009 as a receptionist. She has been in the customer service industry for over 30 years.
Michelle shares her home with her husband Bill and their fur babies, 3 dogs Jade, Tyson and Remington and 5 cats Chocolate, Ben, Kallee, Kaluha and Savanna.
Michelle is now a grandma and enjoying every minute of spoiling her grandkids. She enjoys knitting, crafts and spending quiet time at home with her family.
Connor first started at Midtown Animal Hospital as a high school co-op student, which led to her working on and off as an Animal Care Assistant (ACA) for about five years while attending the University of Guelph. Now a graduate, Connor primarily works as a Receptionist, bringing her warm and helpful nature to her interactions with both clients and their pets. Currently pursuing her master’s in psychotherapy through Yorkville University, she is deeply passionate about supporting others and will always go the extra mile to ensure everyone feels cared for and heard. Connor has 2 dogs, an English bulldog, named Mabel and a Chesapeake Bay Retriever named Otter. In Connor’s free time, she loves spending time with her dogs, friends and family.
Andrea started working as a co-operative education student at a small animal practice in 2006. She quickly knew that working with animals was her passion. Being hired on full time right after her co-op placement led her to many jobs around the clinic. Starting as a Kennel Assistant, to Veterinary Assistant and eventually wanting to move to Reception to continue to work with animals but also to interact with their owners.
Her favorite part of vet medicine is preventative care and ensuring pets live as long and healthy as possible.
Darren joined our team in the summer of 2022, he has worked in the service industry for more than 20 years. Darren has always had a love for and a great connection with animals which drew him to pursuing a career in the animal care industry. Darren shares his home with his now retired service dog Mallow and his two cats Bones and Chesus. In his spare time he loves to cook, sitting down with a great book, enjoys music, art, films, videogames as well as walks with his furry friends.
Jill has been part of the Midtown staff since 2002. She has performed many duties as a member of our staff from reception, animal care, accounting and office administration. She is a Certified Practitioner of both the Feldenkrais Method and Tellington Touch. Jill works closely with the animal rescue community, often fostering many animals, as well as helping them find their forever homes. She also works with exotics, with a passion for parrots. Jill has taken an interest in Grief Counselling, particularly in the area of Pet Loss. Her personal life includes enjoying time with her grandchildren, canoeing, gardening, biking, baking and reading. She currently shares her home with her dogs Cohen and Parker.
